A couple’s new furniture business has been wrecked in an arson attack – only days before it was due to open.

Andrew and Janine Foster have been left with a clean-up bill which could cost them tens of thousands of pounds following the attack.

Arsonists smashed windows to enter the Rooms showroom in Hanover Street, Keighley, and set fire to a bed.

The former Burgess Ford premises were filled with brand-new stock in preparation for the business’s opening next week.

A devastated Mr Foster said: “The place has been totally refurbished, the carpet has only been down a week. It is going to be a lot of hard work but I am still going to do my best and open before Christmas in some part of the building.

“It is sick. Anyone who can do this should be put away for a very long time.”

Detective Inspector John Mountain, of Keighley and North Bradford CID, said: “It would appear that someone had to lean in the window. That is where the seat of the fire was. The fire has significantly damaged stock in the warehouse.”

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened at 10.45pm on Wednesday, should contact PC Andy Cullingford on (01535) 617083 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
