Holly Brown, a resident of Bentham, has recently celebrated the release of her first song ‘Awkward Wave’. On Spotify alone, the song has had over 7000 streams and has been played on BBC Introducing York and Humberside Radio and on Beyond Radio.

After recognising her passion for music, Holly applied for, and was subsequently offered a place at the Lancaster Music Festival Academy, which aims to cultivate young people's early musical interests and talents. In relation to this she says; ‘it was an amazing opportunity, as it allowed me to experience what real musicians do - for example I had a photoshoot and worked with the band LOWES in the studio where we worked on and recorded a song!’

The sixteen-year-old’s first official public performance was at the Button Warehouse Open Mic Night in Macclesfield; when this proved to be a success, she was inspired to get involved in more and more events. Since this first event back in in 2021, she has taken part in the Rural Fest Live Stream in Harrogate and has been involved with a couple of local autumn fairs whilst still making time to perform at school concerts. In addition to this, she sang two songs at Lancaster Light Switch on alongside another academy act - Gabriella and Jasmine.

Holly has been writing songs for about five years now and has several ready to record; it is hoped that they will join ‘Awkward Wave’ on her profile in the coming months. She is eager to experiment with producing her own music so that she can experience the music technology aspect of the broad industry.

‘Awkward Wave’ is available on the streaming platforms: Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music and Deezer.
