HML, the UK and Ireland’s leading third-party mortgage administration company, has been shortlisted in the Debt Collection Agency of the Year category at the Credit Today Debt Collection Awards.

The company, which has its headquarters in Skipton, was shortlisted for its focus on appropriate outcomes for customers.

One of the case studies put forward included calling more than 1,000 mortgage customers of one client following the February 2014 floods to see if they needed flexibility in paying their mortgage as a result of the severe weather.

HML has also carried out several successful interest-only customer early contact campaigns, reminding borrowers that they needed to have repayment plans in place to clear their mortgage at end of term.

Andrew Jones, chief executive officer of HML, said: “It is testament to our focus on sustainably reducing arrears by proactively working with our clients’ customers that we have been shortlisted as Debt Collection Agency of the Year.

“Advanced analytics are at the heart of our arrears management strategies and can be used to assess each borrower’s propensity and willingness to pay. This ensures the most appropriate outcomes for borrowers can be tailored to their unique circumstances, minimising the risk of borrower detriment.

“We believe our experience, systems, people and willingness to embrace innovation are key differentiators in our market. We want to push the quality boundaries for borrowers and our clients and being shortlisted for these awards is a result of our determination.”

The Debt Collection Awards ceremony will be held in Manchester on November 20.
