GREATER enjoyment of museums and stately homes is being made possible thanks to a new innovation by a Broughton Hall based company.

PEEL Interactive is believed to be the only one of its kind in the north to be working on Augmented Reality (AR) - a blend of digital and real life experiences.

The innovation is already being used in the leisure and tourism industry and aims to turn a normal, every day experience into something more interactive, memorable and enjoyable.

PEEL Interactive has been working at Colchester Castle Museum where AR has been used to restore colours and lost features to the vast collection of Roman and Norman architectural and sculptural remains.

“We’ve spent many years developing our AR technology to challenge the market sector and we’re now leading the way in providing interactive digital storytelling for some of the world’s best known tourism destinations," said PEEL Interactive's Jessica Akrigg.

"At the heart of the technology is selling experiences. AR gives visitors an extra dimension to their real life experience but also gives visitor destinations an added revenue stream whilst helping to attract the young audiences that live in this digital era.”

PEEL’s unique entertainment solution has even caught the attention of Westminster.

It's Susannah Daley and Piers Tempest, were invited to the House of Commons to discuss their views on upcoming digital trends and how they can be coupled with the education, leisure and tourism sectors.

The company has also been commissioned by The Duchess of Northumberland to develop the visitor experience at The Alnwick Garden.

Using AR technology, it has brought to life some of the attractions, interesting characters and features, showing visitors how the garden changes throughout the different seasons and introducing a number of fun games for the whole family to enjoy.

In order to reflect its recent successes and growth, Peel has launched a new website and business strategy.

PEEL Interactive’s rapid growth in this evolving sector has seen them recently undergo a brand exercise and launch of a new website with digital agency Impression as they aim to continue their growth with an aggressive new business strategy.
