VOLUNTEERS from a Skipton based care home supplier helped transform communal areas at Thornton Hill care home in Thornton-in-Craven.

The team, from Deliver Net, worked on the home's specialist dementia care areas helping to create murals of a post office, countryside scene and garden flowers. There was also a street mural, to help develop an interesting and engaging environment for the residents.

The volunteers also went outside, to help clear the driveway of fallen leaves and do some weeding in the garden.

And they handed over £75 of dementia-friendly reminiscence and activity products, including painting kits, jigsaws and replica memorabilia from yesteryear.

Deliver Net Ltd managing director, Simon Holt said: “We’re delighted to have been able to help enhance the communal areas for those residents living with dementia at Thornton Hill. It’s been a real pleasure for our team to see first-hand the level of care provided by the staff and for us to meet some of the wonderful residents. Our business supplies products which help support around 60,000 care home residents across the country, so dementia care is a key part of what we do. After all, almost half of us know someone affected by dementia, so it’s great to be able to give something back.”
