A record entry of 59 dairy cattle were forward at Gisburn Auction Marts’ pedigree dairy show and sale on Thursday.
Regular vendor Lee Donkin, of Copster Green, Blackburn, was the show winner and claimed the top price of £2,850 for a heifer.
Reserve championship went to Anthony Bretherton, of Whitechapel, Preston with a heifer which sold for £2,700. Feizor farmer WA Booth picked up the third prize rosette with his newly calved heifer which sold at £2,500.
For the second month running, Philip Baldwin won the newly calved cow class with a second lactation cow which sold for £2,150.
A run of in-calf heifers from Gary Drake, of Ossett, Wakefield topped at £1,660 selling to DW Shuttleworth, of Gargrave.
An entry of young calves from Josh Lancaster, of Horton-in-Craven, sold well to a high of £470.
