Ingleton Gala could fold through lack of support.

The committee members have all retired after many years' service and an emergency meeting last month attracted just two people. Another meeting has been organised for next week.

The gala has been going for around 45 years. It has a celebrated mountain race, organised by the cricket club, and runners come from far and wide.

The gala is the main source of income for the Ingleton Rural Community Association (IRCA), which is the "mother" body of all the organisations in the village. Each is responsible for its own finances but occasionally needs assistance from the IRCA.

In 2007 the IRCA helped the swimming pool, fireworks committee, women's football team and cricket hut repairs and also pledged money to the Scouts towards their new clubhouse.

A small group of six to eight is needed to organise the gala. Anyone who can help is asked to go to the community centre on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
