SKIPTON: Laughter will be on the programme at the Mart Theatre on Saturday when Rob Rouse takes to the stage with his show, Life Sentences.

It is described as “honest, frank seriously funny stand-up, not suitable for children or your prissy auntie”.

Skipton Players are to stage the comedy drama, Breezeblock Park, by Willy Russell.

The show will be staged at the Little Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday, with performances at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from 07527 141176.

* Christ Church will be lit by candles for a performance of La Nativité du Seigneur by Olivier Messiaen, tonight (Thursday) at 7.30pm.

Christ Church organist Robert Marsh will give a brief pre-concert talk.

* Images from an ongoing project by Skipton photographer Mark Butler and his writer sister, Sarah, are on show at the town’s Mill Bridge Gallery. The project, called Working the View, records in photographs and text the attraction of the national park to people involved in caring for it.

The exhibition also features sculpture by Darrell Evanes and Geoff Rushton.

* Skipton Brass Band is to perform with Aireville School choir at a carol concert at Trinity Methodist Church on Monday.

The concert starts at 7pm and admission is free, with donations invited.

* Craven Museum and Gallery is hosting its 2012 Christmas exhibition. Contemporary Craven showcases the work of Craven’s finest contemporary artists and makers artists, and runs until Saturday, December 22.

* The creative talents of people living with dementia and their carers are on show at The Coffee House in the Coach Street car park.

The artists are part of the Own Now project, run by Pioneer Projects (Celebratory Arts) Ltd, which uses the arts and celebration to nurture the health of individuals and their communities.

The exhibition will run until next Friday, December 14 and will be open Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 4.30pm.

* Skipton Folk Unplugged will enjoy Christmas music and traditions at its meeting on Monday.

The folk club meets in the Narrowboat pub at 8.30pm.

SETTLE: Victoria Hall will stage a Christmas Extravaganza tomorrow (Friday), which will include popular performers, seasonal acts and an old time music hall.

Solid Gold Country Legends will celebrate the best in country music on Saturday, while next Saturday, December 15, the stage is taken over by female band The Shee.

* The Lime Gallery, at The Courtyard, is staging “Feast”, which celebrates the work of painters, printmakers, ceramicists, textile artists and jewellery makers from all over the country.

* Winter Stories will be the theme of the next Storytelling Club gathering on Wednesday, December 19.

The event will be at the Friends Meeting House at 7.30pm and admission is £5 on the door.

Settle Amateur Operatic Society, Langcliffe Singers, Octameron and students from Settle College will take part in a Christmas concert at Settle Parish Church on Saturday, starting at 6.30pm. There will also be music by organists Graham Toft and Paul Fisher.

* A fundraising soul night will be held at Settle Social Club on Saturday from 9pm. Proceeds will go towards the fight against prostate cancer.

CRACOE: Cracoe Village Hall Players will present “Grannie” in the village hall tomorrow (Friday) and on Saturday at 7.30pm.

* Saxophonist and flautist John Taylor will play at the next jazz evening at the Black Horse Hotel on Tuesday, from 8.30pm to 11pm.

KILNSEY: Gavin Redshaw, otherwise known as BluesBeaten Redshaw, will play at a Christmas real ale festival at Kilnsey Park on Saturday.

Running from 6pm, the event has been organised by the Cragfest team. Admission is free, with donations invited for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

LANGCLIFFE: The next guitar session at Langcliffe Institute takes place next Friday, December 14, from 7pm and 9pm. Entry is £5.

LINTON: Dean Taylor Productions will stage By George! What the Dickens and The Bard at Fountaine Inn tonight (Thursday).

Bah! Humbug gives a comedy twist to Charles Dickens’ famous story of Victorian miser Ebenezer Scrooge.

The family show will run at Sutton Village Hall until Saturday.
