Singer-songwriter Chris Berry will perform in Settle as part of his Yorkshire Tour.

Chris is well-known in the area, having provided support for Ultravox frontman Midge Ure and Joe Longthorne and fronted his own band, Smiler, at the Yorkshire Day celebrations in Skipton High Street earlier this month.

“My brand of songs is a mix of popular covers including Brown Eyed Girl, Valerie, Proud Mary and I Love To Boogie to get people feeling good about the night, and some lovely ballads to provide a nice balance,” he said. “I’ll also be playing some of my own songs too, including Wonderful Smile that has also been covered by a few artists and has done well so far on YouTube and iTunes.

“I’m really looking forward to the concert at the Victoria Hall in Settle. It’s a lovely venue and is hopefully an area where I have a following through my writing and performing. This will be the second time I have performed at Settle this year, as it’s where I also opened for Midge.

“It will be a very intimate night with just me and my guitar and the audience. I really enjoy these kinds of evenings and what I can tell everyone is that we will have a lot of fun too. I’m not some kind of highbrow entertainer. Let’s all just have a cracking time.”

Chris is also a rural journalist and published author as well as a TV presenter. He is responsible for The Singing Farmers concerts that have raised funds for charity in the past decade.

* Chris Bannister will bring his John Denver tribute show to Settle’s Victoria Hall next week.

He will perform all of Denver’s greatest songs, including Annie’s Song, Rocky Mountain High, Back Home Again and Leavin’ on a Jet Plane, next Friday, August 30.

Chris has been playing John Denver songs in venues throughout the world for many years and has spent time in the John Denver Sanctuary in Aspen, Colorado.

He will be accompanied by Steve Weisberg, who joined John Denver on tour and in performances for many years before the singer’s untimely death.

“It’s an honour for us to host Steve on one of his very few public performances whilst he is visiting from the USA,” said a Victoria Hall spokesman.

The gig will take place at 8pm and tickets are available from 01729 825718 or settlevictoriahall.org.uk
