St James’s Church, Clapham, will host a performance of two of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads monologues.
A Lady of Letters and Bed Among The Lentils will be performed by the Leeds-based Library Theatre next Saturday, August 31, at 7.30pm.
The first features Miss Ruddock, who is keen on civil liberties and asserts her rights through writing letters. However, one of these missives pushes her to the brink, with unexpected but liberating consequences.
Bed Among The Lentils focuses on Susan, a nervous vicar’s wife, who distracts herself from her vainly insensitive husband and his doting parishioners by conducting an affair with a nearby grocer, Ramesh Ramesh.
Tickets are £10, including refreshments, from Sue Mann on 015242 51792 or at the door.
