SKIPTON: To mark the end of her stint as artist in residence at Craven Museum and Gallery, Helen Peyton is putting together a social museum and art (SMART) gallery.

The evolving exhibition opened on Monday and the public are being asked to donate, interpret and create the objects.

* The Imaginarium Theatre Company will perform an energetic piece of street theatre, Once Upon a Time, at Ings Primary School, Broughton Road, on Saturday.

It is part of an event organised by Skipton Children’s Centre to celebrate National Storytelling Week.

Performances lasting 30 minutes will take place from 11am and will be followed by a workshop.

* Steve Place will perform a Roy Orbison tribute at the Three Links Club next Saturday, February 15, On Saturday, February 22, local group, Rehab, will entertain at the Rectory Lane club.

Both events start at 8.30pm and non-members are welcome.

* Louise Schofield will be guest speaker at tonight’s meeting of the Skipton and Wharfedale Decorative and Fine Arts Society. She will talk about rescuing the mosaics of the Roman city of Zeugma in modern-day Turkey, which is to be flooded for the Birecik Dam Project.

The meeting will take place in Skipton Town Hall at 7.30pm and visitors are welcome for an admission fee of £7.

* Singer songwriter Jon Harvison will entertain at Skipton Folk Unplugged on Monday. The group meets at the Narrowboat pub at 8.30pm and all are welcome.

SETTLE: Students at Settle College are showing their work at the Gallery on The Green. In the Eye of the Beholder includes paintings, drawings, textile pieces, scientific information, poems and more.

The exhibition will run until March 3.

AUSTWICK: Austwick Parish Hall Council will show the British drama Philomena, starring Steve Coogan and Judi Dench, tomorrow.

Doors open at 7pm for the screening at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 at the door or £4.50 in advance from Cross Leigh Stores.

* The Nightowls will entertain at a Miss out the Middle Course party at the parish hall next Friday, February 14. The event starts at 7.30pm and proceeds from the £7 tickets will be split between Clapham and Austwick Churches. For more details, contact Sue Mann on 015242 51792.

ELDROTH: Karl’s Bavarian Brass will perform at an Oompah band evening at the parish hall on Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12.50 from committee members. For further information, call Kath on 015242 51035.

GIGGLESWICK: Stephen Whitehead, an expert on the Bronte family, will give the next Gigg lecture at the Richard Whiteley Theatre tonight.

His talk, A Strange Uncivilised Little Place: Haworth and the Making of the Bronte Genius, starts at 7pm. Tickets cost £8 for adults and £6 for under-18s.

The Walt Disney comedy adventure, Frozen, will be shown at the theatre on Sunday at 3.30pm.

SILSDEN: The new theatre facilities at Silsden Town Hall will be showcased on Saturday. As part of the official opening of the refurbished hall, local groups will perform during the afternoon with support from professional sound and lighting technicians.

A rock band will entertain in the evening on a temporary stage in the upstairs function room.
