Panto fun is heading for Craven – oh yes, it is!

Thespians in Glusburn, Gargrave, Carleton and Ingleton will be treading the boards over the next few weeks.

Glusburn Youth Theatre will present children’s classic Peter Pan at Glusburn Institute from February 16 to 22.

The flying ballet – always a highlight of the Glusburn panto – will feature characters such as Peter and Wendy.

Peter Pan will open with a matinee on Sunday, February 16, and will be repeated on February 18, 20, 21 and 22 at 7pm, with an extra matinee on February 22. Tickets are available from Paws 4 Pet Supplies in Cross Hills.

Carleton Pantomime Group will perform Calamity Jane in the village hall from Wednesday, February 19, to Saturday, February 22.

Performances will be held at 7.30pm, with a 2pm matinee also taking place on the Saturday. Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4 for children from the Swan Inn.

Gargrave thespians will give a modern twist to the classic story of Alice in Wonderland with their pantomime, Alice Returns.

Penned by 15-year-old Harriet Ball and with a cast of 23 young people from five to 16 years old, the show features a “bad” Alice, a “good” Red Queen and plenty of topical jokes.

Pantomime committee chairman Anita Eccles said: “Our young actors and dancers have been rehearsing hard since September and we thrilled with the results.

“This year’s panto is full of cheeky laughs, great songs, stunning costumes and fantastic dance numbers.Gargrave Panto has been going for over 50 years and is a real community production.”

Alice Returns will be performed at Gargrave Village Hall from Thursday, February 20, to Saturday, February 22, with evening performances and a matinee on Saturday afternoon.

Advance tickets are priced at £5 and £3 from Gargrave Newsagents. Tickets on the door cost £6 and £4.

Ingleton Theatre Group will perform Beauty and the Beast, written by group member Sue Mosley.

It will be staged at Ingleborough Community Centre from Wednesday, February 26, to Saturday, March 1, and tickets, priced at £5 for adults and £3.50 for concessions, are available from the centre or call 015242 41701 during office hours.
