SKIPTON: Multi award-winning comedian Dave Spikey is bringing his Punchlines show to the Mart Theatre.

He will present evidence to support his theories that punchlines can still be funny if taken out of context and you don’t always need a punchline for a joke to be hilarious.

He will perform his Punchlines show tomorrow at 7.30pm and tickets are available from themarttheatre.org.uk or call 01756 709666.

Mill Bridge Gallery is staging an exhibition to highlight the work of the Craven RSPCA.

Other Animals features photography and sculpture and invites the visitor to consider the diversity and beauty of the other species who inhabit our world and our relationship with them.

It includes images by guest photographic group Over The Moon and a 1940s image of farmer and calf by Skipton’s Henry Meyer, which has just been awarded a joint first prize by the prestigious Royal Photographic Society.

The exhibition ends on Saturday, December 20.

SETTLE: Settle Orchestra will open its 2014-2015 season at Settle College on Saturday.

It will play a programme of French music under the baton of new conductor Leo Geyer, a recent graduate of the prestigious joint course at the University of Manchester and the Royal Northern College of Music.

The programme will include much-loved classics such as Ravel’s Pavane and Tombeau de Couperin and Bizet’s ever-popular Symphony in C.

And mezzo-soprano Rachel Maby, from London, will perform songs by Poulenc and Ravel.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the door, or in advance from Cave and Crag, Settle, High Bentham Post Office and Skipton Camera Centre.

It will be repeated at Christ Church, Skipton, next Saturday, November 29, at 7.30pm.

lTRAMPS will show the foreign language film, Lore, at Victoria Hall on Wednesday.

Directed by Cate Shortland, it tells the story of Lore, daughter to the Nazis, who leads her siblings on a journey that exposed them to the truth of their parents’ beliefs.

The screening starts at 7.45pm lThe Gallery on the Green has extended its current exhibition, showcasing the work of local photographers Tony and Carol Dilger.

Out of Africa and into The Dales features wildlife pictures, shot during safaris in South Africa and nearer to home, in the Dales.

BARNOLDSWICK: Rolls-Royce Leisure will host another Northern Soul night on Saturday.

DJ Roman will play music from old clubs, including the Birdtrap at Brierfield, the Twisted Wheel at Manchester and the Wigan Casino.

The event will run from 8pm to 1am and admission is £5 on the door.

CLAPHAM: The village hall will host an evening with award-winning wildlife photographers Tony and Carol Dilger on Saturday at 7pm.

Tickets are £2.50 for adults, free for children, and are available in advance from committee members or you can pay on the door.

CROSS HILLS: Rock ‘n’ roll band Blue Suede Dudes will perform at Cross Hills Working Men’s Club next Saturday, November 29.

EMBSAY: The next film night at Embsay-with-Eastby Village Hall is on Wednesday at 7.30pm when Joyeux Noel will be screened.

Set in the First World War, it depicts a moment of humanity and understanding amidst the mayhem and carnage. The film is subtitled but the dialogue in many instances is in English.

Admission is £4 on the door.

GLUSBURN: The 1st Kildwick & Farnhill Scout Groups will hold their 73rd gang show this weekend.

The Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders will entertain with songs and sketches, which include Ship Ahoy, Tour de Yorkshire, The Hen Night and Waiting for an X Ray.

The show will be staged in Glusburn Institute tomorrow and Saturday at 7.15pm.

INGLETON: The film, The Monuments Men, will be shown at the community centre tomorrow.

The film follows a group tasked with finding and saving art and other culturally important items before their destruction by Hitler during World War Two.

KILDWICK: Johnny B and Declan Vink will headline at the fortnightly Sunday Session at the White Lion.

They will perform this Sunday from 4pm to 7pm.

SILSDEN: Organisers of Silsden’s annual Proms on the Farm are staging another charity event on Saturday.

Halifax Gilbert and Sullivan Society will perform the concert version of The Pirates of Penzance, at Silsden Methodist Church from 2.30pm, Tickets are £6, including tea and biscuits, and are available from Twiggs or church members.

Proceeds will be split between Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands and Silsden Methodist Church.

The group - described as the finest exponents of sea songs and sea shanties in Britain - will stage its Singing Up a Storm show at the community hall on Sunday.
