SKIPTON: The 2015 Skipton Music Festival will be held next week.

Because of ongoing work at the town hall, classes will be split between St Andrew’s Church, Christ Church, Ermysted’s Grammar School and Skipton Girls’ High School.

First up will be a space-themed speech and drama session in St Andrew’s Church on Monday at 10.30am.

The week continues with a junior music section as well as vocal and recital classes.

The festival will end with a concert finale at Skipton Girls’ High School on Saturday evening.

lTribute band The Kast Off Kinks will entertain at the Mart Theatre tomorrow.

The line-up includes former members of the legendary band The Kinks, who have got back together to re-live the good times.

They include original drummer Mick Avory, John Dalton, who provided bass and vocals in the 60s and 70s, Ian Gibbons, keyboards and vocals in the 80s & 90s and guitarist and singer Dave Clarke, who is formerly of the Beach Boys.

The band will perform hits such as You Really Got Me, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, Sunny Afternoon, Lola, Deadend Street, Days, Waterloo Sunset, Apeman and Come Dancing.

lSkipton Musical Theatre will hold its annual general meeting next week.

It follows an extraordinary general meeting in December, where a number of members put their names forward to be elected to the key posts of chairman, secretary and treasurer The AGM will take place at Skipton Rugby Club on Tuesday at 7.30pm.

lVic Shepherd and John Bowden will entertain at Skipton Folk Unplugged on Monday.

They are long standing performers in the Sheffield folk community.

Whilst Vic is a local lass, John hails from Liverpool and their backgrounds are reflected in their original repertoire and approach to traditional song.

The gig will take place at the Narrow Boat pub, on Victoria Street, from 8.30pm and all are welcome.

lCountry singer Dave Bryan will make his first appearance at Iron Horse Country Music Club on Saturday.

It will meet in the Clifford Suite of the Black Horse from 7.30pm.

Listeners and dancers are welcome.

lTo celebrate St Patrick’s Night, Skipton District Oddfellows will put on Irish entertainment at The Three Links Club next Saturday, March 21, from 8pm.

And, the following day, the Rectory Lane club will host a Country and Western afternoon with Amy Morgan from 1pm.

SETTLE: The Gallery on the Green - housed in a former telephone kiosk - is hosting the first exhibition of work by local digital artist Debra Kelday.

She tries to capture the atmosphere, feeling and emotions of her subjects - whether they are landscapes, people or objects - and expresses this in colour, light, texture and shade, as well as by pure creative imagination.

The exhibition will run until April 11.

lSettle Music will hold one of its popular guitar sessions tomorrow.

It will take place at Settle Primary School from 7pm to 9pm and the cost is £5.

AUSTWICK: Austwick Parish Hall Council will present the PG film, The Imitation Game, tomorrow.

It is an historic thriller about Alan Turing and the breaking of the Enigma Code in World War Two and stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley.

The screening starts at 7.30pm. Admission on the door is £5, but advanced tickets can be bought for £4.50 from Cross Leigh Stores.

EARBY: An Earby girl has organised a fundraising concert in memory of local resident Malcolm Harling, who died aged 71 last July.

Thirteen-year-old Jody Holden, a year nine student at West Craven High School in Barnoldswick, and fellow members of the Arden Angels Choir will perform at a memorial concert in All Saints’ Church at 7.30pm on Saturday.

GIGGLESWICK: One hundred and forty dancers of all ages will step into the limelight this weekend.

The students of the Settle-based Helen Howard School of Dance will perform Dancing through the Decades at the Richard Whiteley Theatre.

All the school is involved in the production, which will include various dance styles ranging from ballet to jazz.

There will be three performances - at 7pm on Saturday and at 1pm and 5pm on Sunday - and tickets are available from the theatre box office on 01729 893180 or visit giggleswick.org.uk/rwt GLUSBURN: Popular rock ‘n’ roll band Rocko and the Reverbs will return to Glusburn Institute on Saturday.

The band will play well-known tunes by the likes of Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash.

HELLIFIELD: An evening of 60s themed entertainment will be staged at the village institute tomorrow.

The Swinging Sixties event will feature local singers and musicians and tickets cost £7.50 for adults and £5 for under 16s. Doors open at 7.15pm.

KETTLEWELL: The Leeds Library Theatre will stage Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads at Kettlewell Village Hall tomorrow.

SILSDEN: Live band The Artful Dodgers will play at the town’s annual Firefighter of the Year awards on Saturday.

The event will be staged at Sunnybank Social Club from 7.30pm and tickets cost £10 on the door.

TOSSIDE: Robert Haygarth and Friends will play at a music night at Tosside Community Hall on Saturday from 8pm.
