TWO successful contestants on TV talent shows will share the stage at Skipton's Mart Theatre on Saturday.

Bradford-born Gareth Gates - runner up in the UK’s first Pop Idol competition - will be joined by special guest Jai McDowell, who won Britain’s Got Talent in 2011.

Gareth has carved out a very successful career for himself. In the UK alone, he has sold 3.5 million records, released three albums and had four UK number one singles.

He won record of the year in 2002, which was the second best selling single of the "noughties" and was only beaten for best selling single of the decade by his fellow competitor, Pop Idol winner Will Young with the song Evergreen.

Outside of the UK, Gareth was named best international male in 2003/4 by MTV Asia, MTV China and MTV Taiwan.

The past 18 months have seen Gareth preview newly self-penned music at a number of acoustic gigs and tour with a new production of Boogie Nights with The Osmonds.

After winning Britain’s Got Talent, Jai performed on the Britain’s Got Talent Tour and has also entertained at a Royal Variety Performance.

The mart gig starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from themarttheatre.org.uk or call 01756 709666.
