SKIPTON: A talent and variety spectacular will be staged at Skipton Baptist Church on Saturday.

The event - a fundraiser for Christians Against Poverty - will feature 22 acts, ranging from singing and music to comedy and ventriloquism.

lThe newly-reopened Craven Museum and Gallery is staging an exhibition about the Magna Carta.

Visitors will be able to see a replica of the Magna Carta, which was given to Skipton as part of the 800th anniversary of its creation.

The display has been put together by the Skipton Magna Carta Working Group, which has been working hard to mark the 800th anniversary in Skipton.

In addition, a contemporary art exhibition titled The Forest of Possibility will run until June 30.

It is the third in the Art Unpacked series of touring art exhibitions created by Gargrave-based Chrysalis Art.

The exhibition features seven artists: James Aldridge, Claire Brewster, Andrea Mastrovito, Charlotte McGowan-Griffin, Davy and Kristin McGuire, Clare Skill and Justine Smith.

lAccomplished singer, musician and record producer Clive Gregson will entertain at Skipton Folk Unplugged on Monday.

He started his professional music career in 1980 as the leader of cult band Any Trouble. In 1985, he released the first of 13 solo albums, which feature an eclectic mix of pop and folk styles.

Skipton Folk Unplugged meets at the town’s Narrow Boat, on Victoria Street, from 8.30pm and all are welcome.

lSkipton Oddfellows will stage a country and western afternoon with Dave Ingles at the Three Links Club on Sunday from 1pm.

Admission is £3 on the door.

SETTLE: The Peatbog Faeries - who set a new audience high at Settle’s Victoria Hall in 2013 - are returning to the venue.

They will provided another explosion of high-octane Celtic dance music on Wednesday at 8pm.

Based in Syke, the group has twice won Live Act of the Year at the Scottish Music Awards.

This is a standing concert, with only limited seating available in the balcony.

lTRAMPS will continue its foreign film season at Victoria Hall with a screening of the Spanish movie The Spirit of the Beehive on Wednesday, May 27.

The film focuses on a young girl, Ana, and her fascination with the 1931 American horror film Frankenstein. It is set in 1940 in the aftermath of General Franco’s victory in the Spanish Civil War.

Doors open at 7.15pm.

lVisitors to The Museum of North Craven Life have the choice of two exhibitions.

Community Skills tells the story of the potteries in Burton-in-Lonsdale, which were fired up in the mid 18th century and showcases around 60 pots from the museum’s collection.

The second exhibition, Reality Hits Home, focuses on the First World War and contrasts the frontline experiences of the volunteers with life at home where people were fearful for the first time of enemy attack from the skies.

lPhotographers Paul Rogers and Roger Taylor have joined forces to explore and speculate on the public’s preoccupation with photographing themselves.

They are staging a joint exhibition, entitled Click, at the Gallery on the Green - housed in a former phone box. The exhibition will run until June 27.

lSettle Amateur Operatic Society will hold its first rehearsal for its 2015 production, Thoroughly Modern Millie, on Monday.

It will take place at The Old Courthouse on Monday at 7.15pm.

Auditions will be held during the second half of June and the show will be staged at Settle’s Victoria Hall from October 26 to 31.

lThe Three Peaks Folk Club will meet at Settle Social Club next Saturday, May 23, from 9pm.

There will be a range of floor singers and musicians and all are welcome.

ARNCLIFFE: A film focusing on the history of the Grassington area will be screened in Amerdale Hall tonight.

The Settlement is the second major film by local film-maker Geoff Kerr and reveals the history of the area and the people who have settled there over the past 12,000 years.

The screening starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from littondale.net BRADLEY: The village film club will show Maleficent (PG) in the school hall on Tuesday from 6pm.

Starring Angelina Jolie, the film is a fantasy thriller re-imagining the story of Sleeping Beauty.

Admission is free, but children under 16 should be accompanied.

GIGGLESWICK: The Richard Whiteley Theatre will host two productions of Giggleswick Junior School’s Aladdin Trouble.

It is the students’ take on the tales of 1001 Arabian Nights and the show will be staged tonight and tomorrow at 7pm.

On Sunday, Community Cinemas will screen the film, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, at 3.30pm.

GRASSINGTON: Musical duo howdenjones will bring its No Halls Barred tour to Grassington Town Hall tomorrow.

Singer-songwriters Kate Howden and Paul Jones write about life and their observations and play a variety of instruments including bodhran and banjo.
