AWARD-WINNING singer Sam Carter will be stopping off in Settle as part of his national tour.

Sam is promoting his latest album, How the City Sings, and will perform the town's Victoria Hall on Friday.

He was named Best Newcomer at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and has since been stirring audiences from Camden to Canada.

He appeared on TV music show Later… With Jools Holland and performed with a specially-assemble band in support of Richard Thompson at Shrewsbury Folk Festival.

He has also toured the world, including a trip to Pakistan to work with revered South Asian classical musicians Sajid Hussain and Haroon Samuel.

His new album features 12 songs that are at times affectingly intimate and at others brimming with righteous rage.

The gig starts at 8pm and tickets are available from 01729 825718.
