LEGENDARY folk rock band Fairport Convention will follow its golden anniversary year with an extensive 2018 UK tour.
Fairport Convention, who still maintain a busy schedule, will stop at Victoria Hall in Settle on Saturday, February 3, as part of their 2018 winter tour.
The folk rock legends follow a successful 50th anniversary year in 2017 by getting back on the bus and covering the length of the UK over 28 dates and breathing new life into old and new material.
To mark the band's 50th anniversary, Sky Arts recently broadcasted a major television documentary 'Fairport Convention: Folk Heroes', a 70-minute film telling how five young musicians in North London formed the band during 1967’s ‘summer of love’.
Winners of the coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award, Fairport were delighted to see their ground-breaking Leige and Lief record voted Radio 2’s Most Influential Folk Album of All Time by listeners.
This year’s winter tour will feature a mix of long-established Fairport favourites and new material from their most recent, critically-acclaimed, studio album 50:50@50.
Fairport Convention features Simon Nicol on guitar and vocals, Dave Pegg on bass guitar, Chris Leslie on fiddle, mandolin and vocals, Ric Sanders on violin and Gerry Conway on drums and percussion.
The band's concert in Settle starts at 7.30pm on Saturday, February 3, and tickets, which cost £25, are available online at settlevictoriahall.org.uk or by ringing the box office on 01729 825718.
