CAN I urge people to take notice of the mayoral election coming up on May 2? It's a completely new role for York and North Yorkshire and whoever wins this time will influence what follows in the future.
Some of the existing mayors in the UK have had an important impact on their communities. Contact details for York and North Yorkshire candidates are available on the internet so if you want to know where each one stands on a particular issue do please write and ask them.
The mayor can have as much, if not more, influence than a local MP so don't miss this opportunity to vote for someone. Sadly there are no in-person hustings planned in our area but there are some online you can watch and there may be recordings. It's worth taking the time to check out them and decide who to vote for.
