SKIPTON Building Society Camerata will hold a tea time concert at 6.30pm tomorrow in Skipton Town Hall.

The poems of French poet Arthur Rimbaud are set to music in Britten's visionary song cycle Les Illuminations, sung for this performance by tenor, Joseph Doody.

Britten, often seen as the quintessential English composer, set these French poems whilst he was working in the USA.

Music by Bach (Concerto No 3) and Tchaikovsky (Souvenir de Florence) completes the programme.

Tchaikovsky composed his work from sketches he notated whilst visiting Italy.

Ben Crick will be the conductor for the concert.

Skipton Town Hall is always looking at how to encourage new audiences to engage with the cultural events taking place at the venue.

This season they are working with Skipton Camerata, an award winner in audience development, to bring more opportunities for young people to experience their music.

And so Skipton Camerata will also perform a matinee performance for under 18s to attend free of charge.

The matinee concert will take place at 1.30pm tomorrow in Skipton Town Hall.

Adults supervising under 16s are also free. Please reserve tickets, as places are limited.
