THREE Lancashire artists are currently on show at the first exhibition of 2018 at Gavagan Art in Settle.
Still Life – A Celebration, which runs until Saturday in Settle Town Hall, showcases a range of still life works by contemporary artists including Simon Nixon of Lancaster, George Melling of Preston and Derek Setford of Bolton.
Simon, well-known to many in the Lancaster area as front of house manager at The Dukes theatre, is displaying his ‘Sunday painter’ series.
Simon, whose paintings are of “unremarkable everyday objects and scenes,” said: “Over 12 months, 52 paintings were completed, one every Sunday.”
George, whose work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London, is displaying still life observations, including a skull, conkers and fish.
Derek is renowned for his paintings, drawings and wood engravings. In this exhibition, visitors can see some of his stunning botanical woodcuts and botanical paintings.
The gallery will be open from 11am to 4pm and all the artwork is available for sale.
