Nearly 50 Skipton traders have signed for a loyalty scheme to encourage shoppers to spend money in the town’s 42 independent shops, cafes and salons in the run-up to Christmas.
Under the scheme, organised by the local chamber of trade and commerce, shoppers can pick up a loyalty card from any chamber shop member and for each £10 spent in different shops they will receive a stamp. Once they have ten stamps, shoppers will be entitled to a £5 voucher.
Chamber president Janet Collins said: “In the current economic climate, we are all looking for a reward for our loyalty and this scheme does just that whilst supporting our fantastic array of independent retail establishments.
“This then helps to keep the high street alive and kicking and preserves our heritage as the top market town in the UK.”
Cards are available from participating shops and the scheme will run until Christmas Eve.
