Mines museum: Earby Mines Museum, on School Lane, will be serving sherry and mince pies on Saturday and Sunday, between 11am and 4pm. Entry is free and there will be a treasure trail for youngsters and a name the dog competition.
Poppy total: The Earby Poppy Appeal team collected £3,007.64 this year, and thanks go everyone for their generosity. Also, the gifts donated for the soldiers’ Christmas boxes enabled 130 boxes to be sent to Afghanistan.
Shop windows: Earby’s Christmas shop window competition will be judged on Wednesday, from 3.45pm. The Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle will help with the judging, along with Jubilee Queen Caitlin Bradley and councillors Barbara Knock and Joyce Myers. The judges will return to the parish rooms for afternoon tea whilst the points are totalled, and then will return to the winning shops with the prizes.
All Saints’: All Saints’ will be open next Friday, December 14, from 10am for anyone wishing to help decorate the church for Christmas.
Carol singing: Churches Together will be carol singing outside the Barber’s Shop on Victoria Road next Saturday, December 15, at 11am. Everyone is welcome to join in. Coffee and mince pies will be served in the New Road Community Centre at 10.30am.
