Parish council: County Coun Richard Welch reported that he was in contact with highways regarding potholes and blocked drains. Chairman Coun Barbara Fiorato said Langcliffe School was due to be auctioned this week at Elland Road. The school bell and plaque are now in the institute. Langcliffe Papermill has had its application turned down. Two new dog fouling signs have been put up around the Green. Grass-cutting was discussed and the council thought the cut was better this time. Coun Graham Cross laid the wreath on behalf of Langcliffe Parish Council on Remembrance Sunday. Four councillors attended along with the clerk. The honesty box in the car park made £76.66.

Thursday Club: The Thursday Club will hold its Christmas lunch in the institute today (Thursday). Giggleswick schoolchildren will sing carols during the morning and Father Christmas will pay a visit.

St John’s: The Christmas coffee morning was well-attended. The winner of the Christmas hamper was C Ellis, and Josie Fenner correctly named the monkey. Both competitions were in aid of St John’s Church. The church will hold its carol service on Sunday, December 23, at 4pm.

Switch-on: The switch-on of the Christmas tree lights will be at 6pm on Tuesday. There will be refreshments in the institute afterwards until 7pm.
