Women Institute: Finds in the Field was the title of a talk given by Bob Younger to members of Threshfield and Linton WI at their November meeting. Mr Younger showed items he had found in fields around Threshfield and Kilnsey using a metal detector. Members will meet on Wednesday for their Christmas dinner, which will be at the Gamekeeper Inn, Long Ashes Park.

Zumba returns: Zumba is back at Kettlewell Village Hall. A new teacher is holding classes on Tuesdays, from 5.30pm to 6.45pm. The cost is £5 a session.

Charity collection: The charity collection at St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Hubberholme, raised £56 for the Bible Network. The charity distributes Bibles in countries across the world. The Remembrance Sunday collection was donated to the Royal British Legion and amounted to £159.50. The Children’s Society will benefit from a collection at the crib blessing and Christingle service at 4pm on Christmas Eve.

Whist drive: The annual whist drive at Kettlewell Village Hall will take place on Saturday at 7.30pm.

Luncheon Club: Kettlewell Luncheon Club will hold its Christmas Lunch in the village hall next Thursday, December 13, at 12.30pm.

Indoor bowls: Indoor bowls will take place at Kettlewell Village Hall on Wednesday, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. It will then take a break, before re-starting on January 9.

Dales theatre: The Theatre of the Dales will perform Three Cheers for Christmas at Kettlewell Village Hall on Wednesday, December 19, at 7pm. Tickets are available from (01756) 760288 or the village shop.

Christmas party: Scargill has changed the date of its Christmas party. Due to a clash with a school event, it will now take place on Friday, January 11.

Pudding money: Thanks go to all who supported the Pudding and Plonk event for St Oswald’s Church, Arncliffe, which raised £160.

Carol singing: Carol singing will take place in Littondale on Friday, December 21, starting at the Queens at 7.30pm. The singers will then go to the Falcon for 9pm. A collection will be taken for the Children’s Society.

Rounders’ dinner: Local rounders players will enjoy a Christmas dinner at Amerdale Hall, Arncliffe, tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm. There will be a speaker and tickets are available from Charlotte Charnley on (01756) 770317. All profits from the bar will go towards the upkeep of the hall.

Delivery service: Those sending Christmas cards to residents in Littondale can use the Christmas card delivery service, with proceeds going to Arncliffe Church. Those wishing to use the service should take their cards, together with a suggested donation of 10p per card, to Carr Farm, Arncliffe, or the Queens by next Sunday, December 16. Stephanie Roe will be offering a similar service in Buckden, Hubberholme and Cray, and her chosen charity is the Upper Fell Rescue Association. The service will be available up to December 22 and Stephanie can be contacted on 761024.

Christmas service: Halton Gill Reading Room will host a Christmas Songs of Praise service on Sunday at 3pm.

Parish council: Buckden, Hubberholme and Langstrothdale Parish Council will meet Buckden Village Institute on Monday at 8pm. Residents are invited to attend.

Institute whist: This month’s whist drive in Buckden Village Institute will be on Wednesday at 7pm.
