Budding Brownlees are being challenged to emulate brothers Alistair and Jonny, who took gold and silver in the London Olympics, as Skipton gears up to host the largest pool-based triathlon in the north of England.
About 700 novice and experienced athletes will descend on Craven Pool, in Aireville Park, on Sunday, April 14, to take part in the event.
They will test their endurance in a 400m swim, followed by a 20km cycle ride and a 5km run around the park.
Craven District Council has contracted Freebird events to deliver the competition, which caters for both novice and experienced triathletes and will have one of the largest fields of first- timers. Craven Pool and Fitness Centre is offering support for anyone wanting to take part.
The centre has 26 cycle spinning sessions a week as well as indoor running on the gym treadmills.
There is daily lane swimming and the centre hosts the Craven Energy Triathlon Club.
Entry forms are available from the pool or online from freebirdevents.co.uk/skipton-triathlon-2013/event-home/.
