Women’s institute: The president, Norma Bell, opened the February meeting of Salterforth WI. The result of last month’s vote on resolutions to be debated at the national AGM in June was that Salterforth WI should support the rejuvenation of high streets and town centres. It is Salterforth’s turn to hold the group carol service this year and a venue has yet to be decided. An invitation to share meetings and other social events with Rimington WI was welcomed by members. The meeting was also a “show and tell” evening, where members brought along their craftwork whilst others talked about their achievements raising money for charities. The next meeting will be on Thursday, March 14, in Salterforth Village Hall at 7.30pm. It will be the AGM followed by a silent auction, with proceeds being donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
