Christ Church School in Skipton is in safer hands after a new health and safety committee was set up.
The pupils undertake a range of checks in the classrooms and around the school site to ensure everything is as it should be, reporting any findings to the headteacher.
The group are supported by Dale Barton, North Yorkshire’s health and safety officer for schools.
“The pupils have been amazing and have taken the responsibility very seriously,” said Mr Barton, who awarded pupils badges to mark their new roles in school.
“Health and Safety is part of all our lives and it helps pupils understand what it’s all about so they can be safe.”
