Rotary club: The president of Barnoldswick and Earby Rotary Club, Martin Chalmers, began his second year in office by being the speaker at the club’s meeting of members and guests. He spoke about his career as a dentist, outlining the improvements seen in dentistry, including implants and infection control. He said fluoride had led to a massive improvement in dental health and said there was no argument against the addition of fluoride to water, leading to the reduction of dental decay. Geoffrey Atkins was presented with his badge of office as the club’s new vice-president.
