Methodist church: The preacher at Sunday’s 10.30am service at St Peter’s Methodist Church will be Carl Heys, of Colne.

Churches Together: A coffee morning with the New Road Community Association will be held every Thursday, from 10am to noon, in the New Road Community Centre. The Earby to Bethlehem organisation meeting will take place in the White Lion at 7.30pm next Thursday, July 25. Each church or organisation is asked to send a representative. The White Lion has agreed to provide a buffet for those attending. Nominations for the Rev Malcolm King Award are being sought and should be given to the chairman, David Hartley, by ringing him on 01282 842617.

Community centre: A Community Association meeting will be held in the New Road Community Centre at 7pm on Monday, July 29. Each group is asked to send a representative to collect Roaring 20s raffle tickets/stall booking forms and to pledge help on the Roaring 20s day, which will take place on Saturday, October 5. At the moment the event is being organised by just a small number of people and more help is needed both in the planning and on the day. To volunteer, contact Rosemary on 01282 842618. The next meeting will be at 2pm on Friday, August 9. Stalls must be pre-booked and booking forms are available by ringing 01282 842618. They are also available in the centre’s coffee bar or office and should be returned to Dorothy Bullock, who can be contacted on 01282 842134, with the appropriate fee.

Earby Gardeners: The judging of allotments for the Sam Lawson Award will take place from 2pm next Saturday, July 27, beginning with the School Lane allotments. Volunteer judges, who must not be allotment holders, should ring 01282 842617. The 70th flower and vegetable show will take place in the New Road Community Centre on Saturday, August 17.
