Child actors from TV soap Emmerdale played against Silsden men in a charity soccer match on Saturday.

Youngsters including 11-year-old Jack Downham, who plays Noah Tate, played alongside members of the drama serial.

Proceeds of the game at Silsden Sports Club will help fund the Chris Brown Trust’s work supporting local people in difficulty due to personal loss or injury.

Members of the Select XI played in memory of Chris Brown, who died in 2009 aged 24 after receiving a head injury playing for Silsden Park Rangers.

The game ended 2-2, but after penalties the score was 5-4 to the Select XI.

Chris’ brother Adam said: “The winning penalty was scored by Ryan Utley in front of the clubhouse and after that he was mobbed by his teammates.

“Finally, the cup was lifted by Chris Brown Trust captain and Chris's best mate, James Whitehead.”

Man of the match was Nader Mabadi of Emmerdale, the “champagne moment” went to Paul Westmoreland of Emmerdale, and the “star turn” award went to Jack Downham for playing almost the entire match despite being only 11 years old.
