Earby and District Local History Society will host a heritage day and exhibition at Northolme Community Centre, Earby, on Sunday.

The society is building an archive tracing the history of the estate which was originally built in 1941-1942 to house vital war workers from the Midlands who came to work at factories in Earby, Sough and Barnoldswick producing components for aircraft and tanks.

It would welcome input from residents or former residents of the estate - known locally as the Ranch - or anyone else who has memories, photographs or documents relating to it.

The exhibition can be viewed between 10am and 4pm and there will be a facility for copying pictures and documents of interest.

Light refreshments will be available.

The society’s website - earbyhistory.co.uk - has a section devoted to the Ranch If you can help or want more information about the event, contact Bob Abel on 01282 843850 or email info@earbyhistory.co.uk
