Tennis players scored an ace when top coach Martin Parkes, a former British ranked junior player now coaching at St Leo University in Florida, agreed to hold an evening of coaching sessions at Skipton Tennis Club.

He passed on his skills following request from a friend, Skipton tennis coach Adam Cox.

Mr Cox said: “It was an excellent evening. Martin said he thought it was great initiative from a rural club to put on an event like this and he was happy to do it.”

During his 15-year coaching career, Mr Parkes has helped Jonathan Marray, the 2012 Wimbledon Men’s Doubles Champion, Ross Connolly, Ilkley Tennis Club men’s singles champion, and Canadian player Heidi El Tabakh.

Skipton has a range of holiday clubs, which are suitable for beginners, and anyone interested can contact Mr Cox on (01756) 796655 or visit skiptontennis.com.
