The Yorkshire Regiment had to cancel a parade through the centre of Skipton because they could not find a band to play.

The parade would have seen the 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment exercising the freedom of the district by marching through the town last Friday morning.

Tim Zillissen, spokesman for the armed forces, said: “My understanding is they couldn’t get a band, and as they would need a band to parade they had to cancel.”

He said military bands were allocated from London and there was no indication of whether the parade would be re-arranged.
