Sports day at Boyle and Petyt School, Beamsley, was a mix of traditional and fun races including sprints, egg and spoon, skipping and obstacle races.
The final event was the water race, which was welcomed by all on a very hot day. The children had to race with a leaky pot and deposit as much water as they could into the team pot at the end of the track. However, most children held the leaky pot over their heads to cool down!
PE teacher Ruth Hall was ably assisted by Upper Wharfedale student Callum Nelson, who had been on work experience the previous week and volunteered to help on the day.
“This was a fabulous day,” said headteacher Imogen Addy. “Last year we didn’t manage a sports day because of the torrential rain – we certainly made the most of it this year.”
