Steven Smith will retire from his job with a sense that it was a privilege and a pleasure to have serve as head of Cowling Community Primary School for ten years.
The 60-year-old Bristol University classics graduate, who has 40 years of teaching under his belt, finishes on Tuesday.
He said: “Cowling is a wonderful school. It has been a pleasure and privilege to work here. The children are so special, the parents lovely, the governors supportive and the staff talented. I’m leaving Cowling in a good place.”
A father of a 26-year-old daughter who is a teaching assistant, he is now looking forward to doing other things - like travelling with his wife Maria, a medical secretary, tackling his large garden and playing golf.
Mr Smith will be replaced by former Craven Herald reporter Sue Marshall, who is moving from High Bentham Primary School.
