An early morning search warrant on a house in Rombalds Drive, Skipton, revealed more than £400 of cannabis, magistrates heard.
Peter Grant, 25, produced a carrier bag of cannabis from his bedroom and officers found two more bags, one with cannabis and one containing tobacco.
Grant, who admitted possession of a class B drug on May 14, was arrested and taken to Skipton Police Station. He said he had bought the drugs the day before for £420.
He also told police he was addicted and bought in bulk because it was cheaper, the court heard on Friday.
In mitigation, Tahir Hanif said Grant was a part time roofer and that he had been using cannabis for a long time. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £15 victims surcharge.
