Talking Heads: The Library Theatre, from Leeds, will perform two of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads monologues in St James’s Church on Saturday, August 31, from 7.30pm. The monologues include A Lady of Letters, the story of Miss Ruddock who writes letters to assert her civil liberties. One of these missives pushes her to the brink, with unexpected but liberating consequences. The second play, Bed Among The Lentils, features Susan, a nervous vicar’s wife who distracts herself from her vainly insensitive husband and his doting parishioners by conducting an affair with a nearby grocer, Ramesh Ramesh, discovering something about herself and God in the process. Tickets are £10, which includes interval refreshments. They are available from Sue Mann on 015242 51792 or at the door.
