Monthly dance: Elizabeth Harrison will host the Friday night ballroom dance at the village hall tomorrow. Entry will be £6.50, which includes supper and the entertainment starts at 8pm.

Coffee morning: There will be a coffee morning at the village hall between 10am and noon on Saturday. As well as dropping in for homemade scones, cake or a toasted teacake, you can also bring any jumble you may have for the forthcoming jumble sale in the village hall on September 21.

Fuchsia show: A fuchsia and geranium show will take place on Sunday at Gargrave Village Hall. Entrance to the public will be from noon until 4pm, when the winning exhibits will be on show and there will be numerous fuchsia and geranium plants for sale. Refreshments will be available and there will also be a raffle and tombola.

Neville House: There will be a fundraising vintage tea party at Neville House on Sunday, between 2pm and 5pm. Entry is £5 per person, which will include afternoon tea served outside in the garden (weather permitting) on vintage crockery. There will also be a raffle with some excellent hampers to be won.

Women’s Institute: The next meeting will be held from 7.30pm on Wednesday in Gargrave Village Hall annexe. The speaker will be Dee Pollitt, who will talk about volunteering in Craven. Members are invited to go along from 7pm for a chat and a chance to look at the courses and opportunities on offer through the WI. New members are welcome to attend.

Gargrave Show: Gargrave Show will take place next Saturday, August 17. The event will include the popular fell races, which start from the main ring at noon with the under-nines race, followed by the under-12s, under-14s and under- 17s. The senior runners will be the last to tackle the multi-terrain race. Entries are taken on the day and there are cash prizes sponsored by JACS Trade and DIY store of Snaygill Industrial Estate, Skipton. Trophies include the Donald McKell Cup, which is awarded to the highest-placed local male from any of the five age categories, and the Weatherill family have given a trophy for the highest-placed local female runner.
