Horticultural show: The 72nd annual Gigglewick Horticultural Society show will take place at Giggleswick Junior School Pavilion on Saturday. The show will open to the public at 1.30pm, with the official opening ceremony by Settle Mayor, Coun Joe Lord, at 2pm. There is a wide range of adult and child classes and copies of the schedule are available from Lamberts Newsagents, Speight and Watson, Settle Tourist Information Centre and The Garden Shed. Admission to the show is £1 for adults and 30p for children. Cups and prizes will be presented at 3.30pm with an auction of exhibits at 4pm. Last year, the society made donations totalling £800 to Settle Scouts, Settle Swimming Pool, cave rescue, Blind Persons Welfare and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Beer and music: The Craven Arms is hosting a beer and music festival on Sunday, August 25, featuring locally-brewed beers. Tickets cost £5 if pre-ordered or £6 on the day and include three taster half pints and a donation to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. There will be live music from The Duffers and from Giggleswick and Settle Brass Band, as well as a barbecue and helicopter rides.
