Complaints about horse riders using a footpath and cycleway on a busy Barnoldswick road are being addressed.
Members of the West Craven Area Committee met horse riders, police officers and representatives from Lancashire County Council and Pendle Council in early July to discuss pedestrians’ complaints about horses mounting the pavement on Kelbrook Road.
The county council has agreed to put up notices asking horse riders to be considerate of pedestrians and to provide equestrian passing places. It is also planning to widen the path Committee members agreed the measures during a recent meeting and also resolved to ask Pendle’s waste services manager to use the mechanical sweeper to deal with any residue horse muck on the pavement between Kelbrook and Barnoldswick.
