Coronation Street Star Georgia May Foote opened Hellifield's annual gala on Saturday.

The actress, who plays Katy Armstrong in the TV soap, was accompanied around the field by gala chairman David Preston and mingled with the crowds and signed autographs.

Festivities started on Friday evening, with a Hellifield's Got Talent! concert held in the marquee which provided fun and music for all tastes.

On gala day itself, entertainment on the field included fell races, which included the Yorkshire Junior Champion-ships, a fun fair and climbing wall, children’s entertainer Circus Jim, Buckin Bronco and local stalls including the Hellifield Area Gardens and Allotments Associaton and the RSPCA.

This year’s fancy dress theme was Disney and the competition was judged by Mr and Mrs C Riley.

But centre of attention were the 2013 gala queen Mackenzie Forster and her attendants Rosie Chapman, Ruby Stapleton, Christopher Wright and Jack Cunningham.

Entertainment in the marquee was provided by local singers Stan and Jane, with Denis Lord and Paul Murphy, better known as the Saggy Bottom Boys, performing country and blue grass music. Refreshments were provided by the Women’s Institute.

A children's disco and music by the group, Cover to Cover ended the fun. Thanks go to everyone who made the event such as success.
