Embsay with Eastby Parish Council has raised concerns about plans to build new homes on land off Skipton Road.
Chris Windle, from Skipton-based Windle Beech Winthrop, is applying for planning permission to develop a site on the western approach to the village, between Skipton Road and the Embsay Steam Railway banking.
The plans are still in outline form and show a notional nine homes of mixed types, including affordable.
In a letter to the planning authority, parish councillors say the proposed development stretches the village boundary and removes a “buffering space” between the last houses and the vista of Embsay Beck.
They also express concern over flooding and increased traffic and say the affordable properties seem excessively cramped.
And they add: “The introduction of additional housing raises concerns that the service infrastructure (to include sewers and drains) will be unable to cope with further development in the village.”
The application will be determined by Craven District Council.
