Thanks: Tracy Dunkley and her fellow Friends of Horton School would like to thank everyone for their donations of cakes, help with the catering and general support on the day of Paul’s funeral.
Whist: The monthly whist drive was held recently at the Golden Lion. Winners for the ladies were J Welch, E Jackson, A Humphrey and V Pullen. The gents winners were all ladies, but playing as subs due to a shortage of male players. They were M Wright, J Mercer, B Garnett and V Jones. The group welcomes new players and would be happy to teach a novices how to play the card game. The next whist drive will be held on Tuesday, September 10, at 7.30pm, in the Golden Lion.
Pet Rescue: Come along and see the cats and kittens at the Bentham and District Pet Rescue open day at The Chestnuts in Horton in Ribblesdale. The group works across the whole district helping animals in distress. The open day is a way of raising funds for its work and there will be a raffle, bric-a-brac stall, teddy tombola, bottle tombola, face painting, book stall and crafts. Admission is a £1 for adults and 50p for children and includes tea and biscuits.
