Music event: The popular Music for a Summer Afternoon event will take place on Monday at 3.30pm at the Quaker Meeting House in Airton. The concert features the talented musicians of the Vacation Chamber Orchestras (known as VaCO). With an eclectic and sometimes surprising programme of classical works, the performance promises to delight followers of classical music. This international group of 18 talented young musicians will be visiting the Yorkshire Dales from all over the UK and Europe under an initiative organised by Ripon based musical charity VaCO. The orchestra’s programme will include works by Mozart, Piazzola, Martinu and Zoran. Opera: On Thursday, September 5, at 7.30pm, Barbershopera will be performing their award-winning version of The Three Musketeers at the Quaker Meeting House in Airton. Reinventing Alexandre Dumas’s much-loved story with four part acappella harmonies, the three men and a woman sing you through the epic adventure of The Three Musketeers.
