Photographic Club: For those who missed the photographic group’s town trail, there is still a chance to see the array of pictures at the annual exhibition this weekend. It is taking place at Clapham Village Hall and will be open from 11am to 5pm each day (Saturday to Monday), with refreshments available throughout. The group expresses its thanks to all the shops who participated in the town trail.

Parish Church: To celebrate the centenary of its Binns organ a series of organ recitals is being held at the church over the next year. The performances will feature music written during the 100 years since the organ was installed in 1913. The first recital will take place on Saturday at 7.30pm, when the organist will be renowned local musician and composer Paul Fisher. This concert will include British and French music written between 1910 and 1920 and will feature pieces by Vaughan Williams, Parry, Howells, Vierne and Dupre. Admission is free with a retiring collection. Thanks are expressed to everyone who supported the church by providing items for the Jane Tomlinson Walk For All lunches and teas, and to those who came along to the event. The church raised £200 for the cause.

Tot Lord Trail: The next two trails will take place tonight (Thursday) and on Thursday, August 29. The walks provide a chance to find out about one of the town’s most colourful characters. Participants should meet outside Settle Tourist Information Centre for a 6.15pm start and the walk finishes at approximately 8pm. Tickets are £4, with all proceeds going to Oxfam. All Sorts Market: The Friends of Victoria Hall have organised an All Sorts Market at the hall on Saturday. It will be open between 9.30am and 4pm and refreshments will be served all day. For details, contact 01729 823867.

Swing and Sing: Lewis Birtwell will perform the music of Michael Buble and more at Settle Cricket Club on Saturday. The event starts at 8.45pm and tickets cost £5 from the club, the Naked Man or telephone 822171 or 825595.

Darts knock-out: Settle Social Club is hosting a darts knock out on Sunday with prize money totalling £500 up for grabs. Scratch time is 3pm and details are available from 07740 178731. Entry is £2 and no current county players will be permitted.

Book fair: A second-hand book fair will be held at the Victoria Hall on Monday, from 10am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available.

Film screening: The next film showing by Tramps at the Victoria Hall will be the French classic Manon des Sources. This will be shown on Wednesday, August 28, at 7.45pm and tickets cost £5.

Blood donors: St John’s Church Hall is hosting a blood donor session on Thursday, August 29. The first session will run from 2.30pm to 4pm with a second session from 5pm to 7.30pm. All donors are urged to make an appointment via 0300 123 2323. New donors are always required.

Victoria Hall: On Friday, August 30, Chris Bannister will be performing the music of John Denver. There will be the premiere of Coward on Friday, September 6, a play by Justsome Theatre Company showing a speculative view of the life of Noel Coward. On Sunday, September 8, there will be an afternoon mandolin and voice workshop led by Simon Major and Hilary James between 2pm and 4.30pm. This precedes an evening concert by the duo. The group meets at Townhead Court on Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm and costs 50p, with all proceeds going to charity.

Race night: Settle Amateur Operatic Society invite you to a night at the races on Friday, September 13. The group is holding a horse race night at Langcliffe Institute. The first race will take place at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children. Admission includes a pie and pea supper. There is no bar, but you are welcome to bring your own drinks.
