Lacemakers: Eighteen members and four visitors attended the July meeting of the Craven Guild of Lacemakers. Several members had visited Gawthorpe Hall to view entries in the Inspired exhibition, among which were many pieces made by the Craven Lacemakers. The National Lace Guild’s three-yearly John Bull Trophy Competition has also been held. A CD of all the entries has been purchased and will hopefully be viewed at the October meeting. Michelle Horton, from Duttons for Buttons, gave a talk after lunch on the history of buttons.
Italian Circle: There will be Reminiscences and Memories of Italy from members and guests at Skipton Italian Circle today (Thursday). The meeting will take place in the Soroptimist Rooms on Otley Street, with informal conversation at 7.30pm and the talk at 8pm. Admission is £3 for non-members and annual membership is available for £15.
Friendship Group: Skipton Friendship Group for over-50s welcomes John Mumford to speak on Legal Solutions at the next meeting, at 2pm, on Tuesday at the Broughton Road Community Centre. For more details, go to skiptonfriendshipgroup.org.uk.
