Barnoldswick town clerk Richard Nelson has stepped down because of ill health.
“He has resigned on medical grounds,” said Coun Ken Hartley, chairman of Barnoldswick Town Council. “As a council, we wish him well in his recovery.”
Mr Nelson had served in the 16-hour per week part-time role for five years. Coun Hartley said the town council had retained the services of HR Associates to assist in appointing a new clerk.
Meanwhile, town councillor Marjorie Adams is serving as acting town clerk, a role she also had before the appointment of Mr Nelson.
“These things take time, so our timescale for hiring a new clerk would be in the new year,” added Coun Hartley.
