Train operator Northern Rail has introduced its annual winter Dales Railcard offer.
It allows Dales Railcard holders to travel on the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle route and the Leeds-Morecambe line for a day return of £8.
During the offer up to four children can accompany a Dales Railcard holder for a flat day return fare of £4.
However, this year, the offer will not be available for a continuous period but will initially be valid until December 1. It will restart on January 5 and run until March 22 (excluding February 22 to March 2).
Anne Ridley, of the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company, said: “This is another great offer.”
Outside the offer period, Dales Railcards provide savings of one third on the price of tickets.
They are available to residents along the Carlisle-Appleby-Settle-Skipton and Skipton-Morecambe corridors, including those with postcodes starting LA2, LA6, BD23 and BD24.
Cards cost £12, are valid for 12 months and can be purchased from Settle and Skipton Railway Stations or online at scrdc.co.uk.
