A group of inspiring children from South Craven have raised money for the special-care baby unit at Airedale Hospital, Steeton.
Members of the Friends Are Us youth club held a coffee morning in memory of Freddie Close, who was born sleeping in July 2012, and have handed over the proceeds – £645 – to Airedale fundraiser Bronagh Daly.
“For a group of young children to raise such a sum of money is amazing and I have invited the leaders with the children to visit the ward and have a tour and to see where their money will be put to use,” said Bronagh. “They are truly inspiring.”
The club runs on a Wednesday at St Peters Church Hall, Cross Hills, and aims to raise money each year for a charity nominated by the children or their leaders.
